Microsoft has been struggling for awhile now to wipe the stink of the “Red Rings of Death” controversy off of them. The biggest of these was when they announced they were extending the warranty on all Xbox 360 consoles. And now it seems they’re including some extra “sorry, our bad” Freebies in systems they send back to owners after being repaired or replaced. One guy by the name of AJ Borden says when he received a newly refurbished system along with a one-month renewal card for an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership. He also says that the repairs took 25 days, and that this was the sixth system he’s sent in, though this is the first time he received anything extra. I suppose that just makes up for the month lost on Xbox LIVE due to the repairs, but it’s still better than nothing.
